Megalong Mall, The Longest Mall

"Megalong Mall, The Longest Mall," it is said. At this point in time. But you can never be sure as time passes.

The Megalong Shopping Mall is the newest landmark in the town of Donggongon. Donggongon, by the way, is the largest town in Penampang. You can say that it is the capital of Penampang.

Once built, the ITCC will overtake Megalong as the newest landmark. The question is whether people will flock to ITCC. Will they continue to patronize Megalong?

If you happen to do your shopping at this mall, you may need to take your time to check out the different shops and what they have on sale. You won't find it easy to move around since there are no signboards. Hopefully, the management company will look into this matter. And soon! By doing this, customers will have a good shopping experience at this mall. Businesses will thrive and this will also be good for the management company.

Okay! Let's see what products or services are available at this shopping complex.

Here is a shortlist which may be of some help if you decide to come over to Megalong Mall.
  1. Shops occupy the Ground Floor and the First and Second Floors.
  2. The Third and Fourth Floors are for parking. Parking there is free at the moment. You enter and exit at the eastern wing of the building. Be careful not to turn the steering wheel too much to the left when you drive up. If you do, your car's side may be scratched by the wall. And when you go down, beware of the wall to the left and also incoming vehicles to your right.
  3. You can take your meal either on the Ground Floor, West Wing, or at the Food Court on the Second Floor, also in the West Wing. Previously, there were many food operators, giving hungry customers a lot of choices. The place was almost deserted at one time but more operators have taken up stalls there now.
  4. Pizza Hut is found on the Ground Floor. It is next door to MarryBrown.
  5. Giant supermarket is located on the Ground Floor, East Wing.
  6. There are three bookstores at Megalong. Two are located on the Second Floor, namely, the Lotinggi Dampian Books and Stationery, and Second Chance Shops. The third bookstore is on the Ground Floor.
  7. These types of shops abound at Megalong Shopping Complex: Boutiques, Saloons, and Massage Shops.
  8. Escalators are located at three places. You can also take the lifts found at two places on the West Wing and one on the East Wing near Giant supermarket.
A word of caution! Beware of school children and small kids who treat the long corridors as a playing field. You may also find that the floors may be very dirty at certain times of the day or on certain days of the week. The dark smudges on the floors could well be mud. After all, there are a lot of muddy patches around town. And this state of affairs become worse when it rains.

Well, there are many more which are not mentioned here. Come over personally and go on a tour of discovery of Megalong Shopping Complex, the Longest Mall this side of Sabah. So it is said.

Lotinggi Dampian Books & Stationery Shop

WELCOME TO The Lotinggi Dampian Books & Stationery Shop, located at Lot 137, 2nd Floor of the Megalong Shopping Mall, Donggongon Town.

Donggongon is in Penampang District. It is not far from Kota Kinabalu City.

One of the newest landmarks at Donggongon is the Megalong Shopping Mall, reputedly the longest mall in Sabah.

The Lotinggi Dampian Books AND Stationery Shop is perhaps the only bookshop found in the district. You will, of course, find a number of bookshops at Kota Kinabalu. But you may find some books at the Lotinggi Dampian Books & Stationery Shop which you cannot find anywhere else.

One of the newest addition of books available at this shop is the new edition of the Kadazan Dictionary. Hard cover copies are sold at RM50.00 per book whereas the soft cover copies sell at RM30.00 each. Be assured that the dictionary is sold at the stated prices. It is understood that copies of this dictionary are available at Kota Kinabalu at a much higher price.

You can reach Donggongon by either driving or taking any of the 13A buses from Kota Kinabalu. You may prefer to take a taxi. Or if you are from Papar (or from further away) or from Kota Kinabalu, you can take the train and disembark at Putatan. From Putatan, you can take a taxi or charter a privately-owned car in order to go to Donggongon.

If you drive, you can use the old road through Lido or Dontozidon. Alternatively, you can take the new Road By-pass from Tanjung Aru - Sembulan roundabout and turn left upon reaching the big Siga Roundabout as you reach the very vicinity of Dongggongon. Siga is the headgear worn by Kadazan men especially during festivals. From there, it is short distance to Megalong Mall.

As indicated by the name the Lotinggi Dampian Books & Stationery Shop also sells stationery at competitive prices. You can browse through the books and get your supply of stationery at the same time.

We have run out of the Kadazan Dictionary. Hopefully, we can get new supplies in future. Unfortunately, the supplier cannot confirm when. We will let you know. Alternatively, you may want to check out information at https://twitter.com/kadazanhomeland
